A hero is a person who, in a situation involving danger along with the impending and strong possibility of the loss of human life, arises from the ordinary, and without thought for his or her personal safety, rushes to give aid. There is another form of hero, usually unnoticed or in some instances kept in purposeful anonymity; either for his protection or for the protection of those he or she may be in concert with. Sometimes that protection is due to the need for the act to be performed to be kept secret. Such a man is Jon Morton. He is an above average military combatant. He is not without personal flaws or problems. He is a minor hero, doing something he has willingly agreed to for the benefit of nations or governments. He will never receive an award or recognition for his deeds. He is only a hero because he survived. Perhaps he was a little smarter or stronger than his adversary. Perhaps more skilled or a better planner, or perhaps it was a combination of all of those coupled with a generous portion of luck. Regardless of the how or why, Jon Morton will always remain in the shadows.
